I am Dr. Kwabena Mensah Adusei, a general practitioner with over 20 years of experience practicing at leading hospitals in Ghana and South Africa. Born and raised in Accra, I early on realized that community health doesn't just depend on medications—it's also about connecting, listening, and guiding patients. I graduated from the University of Ghana Medical School in 2004 and began my career at Korle Bu Hospital, where I learned the true value of patience and a service-oriented spirit. My drive to advance my expertise in community medicine led me to the University of Cape Town in South Africa, where I completed my Master's degree in Family Medicine. I believe a great doctor doesn't just treat illnesses but empowers patients to understand and take control of their own health. My professional philosophy is: “Heal with knowledge, care with the heart.” Guided by this motto, I always aim to deliver precise, compassionate, and highly educational medical care. Today, at Greater Accra General Hospital, I balance clinical practice with mentoring the next generation of young doctors—those who will carry forward our mission of community service. I'm particularly passionate about chronic health conditions, primary care, and preventive medicine. After more than two decades in medicine, what brings me the most joy isn't the number of cases I've treated, but the trust in patients' eyes as they leave my clinic with a smile and renewed hope.

Stroke Among Young Malaysians on the Rise: A Wake-Up Call & The Critical Role of Specialized Neurological Diagnosis

Stroke Among Young Malaysians on the Rise: A Wake-Up Call & The Critical Role of Specialized Neurological Diagnosis

In recent years, Malaysia has seen a concerning rise in stroke cases among individuals under 45, shifting what was once considered an “elderly disease” into a growing threat for the younger population. According to national data, nearly 15% of all strokes now affect young adults, often with devastating lifelong consequences—not just for the patient, but also for their families and communities.

As a consultant neurologist with over 15 years of clinical experience, Dr. Lim Wei Jian has witnessed this alarming trend firsthand. Driven by unhealthy lifestyles, undiagnosed conditions like hypertension and diabetes, and delayed medical attention, strokes in young adults are becoming more frequent—and more preventable.

This calls for greater awareness, early neurological screening, and the availability of advanced imaging and personalized care to detect risks before it’s too late. Stroke can strike suddenly—but with the right knowledge and timely action, its long-term impact can be minimized or even avoided.

Allergic Reactions Are Not “Just a Rash”: Understanding Anaphylaxis and the Silent Risk in Malaysian Households

Allergic Reactions Are Not “Just a Rash”: Understanding Anaphylaxis and the Silent Risk in Malaysian Households

Over more than a decade working in allergy and immunology departments, I have seen countless patients—especially children—rushed to the emergency room in anaphylactic shock due to seemingly harmless causes: a fire ant sting, a meal containing peanuts, or a common cold medicine.

What worries me is not just the severity of anaphylaxis—which can lead to death within 15 minutes—but the widespread lack of knowledge about this condition in our communities, even in large cities like Kuala Lumpur, Johor Bahru, and Penang.

Beauty with responsibility: when aesthetic enhancement should never cost your health

Beauty with responsibility: when aesthetic enhancement should never cost your health

Beauty is a right, but it must be accompanied by knowledge and responsibility.

Dr. Amirul Hakim bin Zainal warns of the abuse of unlicensed cosmetic services in Malaysia – where tens of thousands of cosmetic procedures are taking place outside medical control, causing serious complications and even death. Cosmetic surgery is not a game – it is a medical intervention, and is only safe when performed by a specialist.

Don't let your beauty journey become a disaster – because you deserve to be protected.
